Midrash & Father/Kids Hike

Midrash & Father/Kids Hike

Details

This month we will be hosting midrash at Potato Creek State Park! We're combining this time with an opportunity for you and your children to hike together, and enjoy the company of other men and their families.

Here's the plan:
8:30 | Church Van leaves NLCC to head to Potato Creek (option available if you don't want to meet at the park)
9:00-10:15 | Midrash in the lawn between the Nature Center and the playground.
10:30-11:15 | Hike through the trails near the Nature Center
11:15-??? | Picnic lunch provided by the NLCC Men's Ministry.

Kids will be supervised by volunteers at the park. While the dads are participating in Midrash the kids will have the opportunity to play on the playground and check out the Nature Center!

What is MIDRASH?
Midrash refers to a way of interpreting and expanding on Scripture. It comes from a Hebrew word meaning ā€œto seekā€ or ā€œto inquire.ā€

At its core, midrash is about going deeper than the surface of the text. Instead of just reading what’s written, it invites the group to; engage scripture more deeply, ask questions rather than simply listening, engage in conversation to grow together.

It’s less about "simply reading Scriptureā€ and more about wrestling with it, sitting in it, and drawing out meaning.
